Snoopy

Lucky me, Howard's in town! Howard and I met each other for the first time on Aurora Avenue many years back. For those of you who are familiar with Aurora Avenue, it's not what you think! Anyway, we both had motorcycles and decided to go for an epic ride around Mount St. Helens the next day.

In the evening, we watched his niece Riley perform in Snoopy, at the Broadway Performance Hall. The show was brilliant. The most striking feeling was how BIG the kids appeared on stage, yet how small they were in the lobby after the show. Big thanks to Howard and his family for letting Stacy and I join them for the fun.

Pants!

With my Super Bonus JCPenney coupon in hand, I went to my version of hell today... a mall.

Belly of the beast...

After a failed attempt to use the coupon for kitchen utensils (small print), I narrowed my purchase options down to underwear. Thank you JCPenney!

I'm somebody!

Yes, nothing says you've made it like a public library card! Really!

The new Seattle Library is dazzling, bold, open air and truly wonderful. The elevator (neon green) opens to the meeting floor. Exiting the elevator, you enter a cavity of shiny ruby-red floors, walls and ceiling which feels like a space station or cave. I don't like red, but I like this floor!

Hammering Man lowers his hammer four times per minute from 7 am to 10 pm every day. He did negotiate evenings and labor day off.

A Seattle icon...

The Smith Tower was once the tallest building West of the Mississippi River.

Sorry sports fans, but my real interest in this picture is the King Street Train Station. It's the hub of my determined effort to use public transportation in Seattle. I'm adamant about this, but honestly it's difficult to share time with friends and work without a car. But I like difficult, so thank you to all my friends who pick me up occasionally and to Carolyn and Geraldine for the Ikea trips.

The big ship that could.. hopefully

Working on shipping and customs forms today, reminded me of my research on the ship carrying our house to Seattle. Everyone has bad picture days, including ships I imagine, but her mascara is definitely running. If you're interested in a used bicycle, look no further, it may be 2 miles off, and below, the US coast. In her defense, she has made it to Houston.

The 1984-built, 46,989-dwt, container ship Nedlloyd Holland is seen in this photograph while she was underway in Holland during June of 1990. She was built in South Korea and has sailed since her construction as American New York (87), Catherine K, Nedlloyd Holland (00) and when this picture was added to the archives she was still listed as active under the name Sealand Florida and the U.S. flag.

Pioneer Square, Seattle

Hello LONDON gang, I miss you immensely!

Went for a great run today, only the 3rd since arriving in Seattle! Haven't quite found the spark without Leo, but I've have noticed some jiggly bits to get me motivated.

Our flat in Pioneer Square is just right, lots of light, older buildings, and drunks... my kind of place. Some pictures of the neighborhood are below. We're in the Seattle Quilt Building, look for the open windows.

Spelling is a big challenge these days and I'm second-guessing words from both a UK and US angle. Folks are smiling, but not understanding, "take away", "cheers", "dodgy", "as well" and my favorite the British double negative. Are you not sure you’re not talking loud enough? Perhaps.
